Le groupe brassicole belgo-brésilien InBev a vendu United Dutch Breweries (UDB), qui ne cadrait plus avec la stratégie du groupe, à la société hollandaise d’investissement Nimbus de Zeist. Le prix de la cession n’a pas été communiqué. UDB est sous capitaux étrangers depuis 1969 et faisait partie d’InBev depuis le rachat d’Allied Domecq. La société, qui ne possède pas de brasseries en propre fait brasser ses marques dans diverses brasseries européenes: Oranjeboom et De Drie Offijzers à Roterdam et Breda, mais aussi Royal Dutch, 3 horse ou Trio Stout. UDB exporte environ 1 million hl chaque année vers une centaine de pays. La stratégie de marques d’InBev consiste à évoluer sur les marchés matures ainsi que sur les marchés émergents avec peu de marques locales. Aux Pays-Bas, le groupe est numéro 2 avec 17% de PDM et vend essentiellement de la Jupiler et deux marques hollandaises que sont Dommelsch et Hertog.
